20th Anniversary

The Austin Spring Tango Festival started 20 years ago! Every year our goal has been to make the festival the best it can be, and over the years we have learned a lot about what makes a festival successful for its attendees, maestros, DJs, and our community. We look back with pride on the continual improvement we believe we have achieved over this period.

Our festival consistently sells out now, but we have no desire to increase its size. About 350 people is ideal for the size of festival we want to be providing. It allows us to afford to bring in the finest teachers from around the world, it allows us to retain a sense of coherence and community that is harder to maintain in larger events. And the feeling of the physical space has always been important to us. We want a space that is beautiful and is vibrant and peaceful at the same time. Our goal, then, is not to grow the size of our festival, our goal is to perfect the feeling and experience you have when you attend the Austin Spring Tango Festival.

We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with all of you so stay tuned as we plan our next memorable festival, one not to be missed!

Registration will open in September, and we look forward to seeing you the weekend of March 21 – 23, 2025!

Sunday Afternoon Quick Dip Milonga

We hear you – your body is showing the effects of dancing all weekend. Did you know that walking is one of the best exercises for sore muscles? And as we all know, Tango is just walking and pivoting, and the Austin equivalent is taking a dip in a local pool like Barton Springs or Deep Eddy.

Sunday Asado BBQ & Milonga

Catch the local flavor of our Austin Community at our Asado BBQ and Milonga. The Asado runs from 7:00pm to 8:30pm and the evening continues with Traditional and Alternative dance floors!

About Us

The Austin Tango Society is proud to sponsor the Austin Spring Tango Festival. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we strive to promote Argentine tango in Austin, to provide opportunities to learn and dance, and to build an open and generous tango community. We also host the Austin Tango Calendar and sponsor the local Guided Practica Program. The Austin Tango Society supports the Austin Tango Community Safe Spaces Policy.
